Invisalign® Clear Teeth Straightening

Invisalign® Clear Teeth Straightening

Beautiful, Straight Teeth without Braces

drlathamDr. Julia Latham provides Invisalign clear teeth straightening. Invisalign is a more comfortable and virtually invisible teeth-straightening alternative to traditional metal braces. It is proven to be very effective in straightening misaligned teeth and bites.

Invisalign consists of a series of clear, plastic aligner trays that are custom-designed to fit over your teeth. Unlike metal braces, the aligner trays are removable for eating and oral hygiene and have no irritating metal or rubber parts. Invisalign treatment can be used by adults and teenagers who have all of their permanent teeth.

Advantages of Invisalign

The Invisalign system has many advantages over other forms of orthodontic treatment, including:

  • The clear aligners are virtually invisible – They’re much less noticeable than traditional metal braces.
  • The aligners are removable for eating, flossing and brushing – There are no restrictions on the foods you can eat.
  • The removable aligners make it easy to keep your teeth clean – There are no metal brackets or wires in your way.
  • The aligner trays are smooth and cause little to no irritation – There is no metal, wire or rubber in your mouth.
  • Aligner visits are not as frequent so there are less trips to the dentist.

Types of Invisalign Treatment We Provide

    Invisalign® Clear Teeth Straightening

    • Invisalign for Adults – You will receive the number of aligner trays necessary to correct the tooth or bite misalignment – usually 20 to 30 trays. The amount of trays varies, depending on the severity of the case. If you are not satisfied with the final results, you may request additional aligners – for up to five years at no charge – to further refine your smile. Wearing time is 20 to 22 hours per day. The average treatment time for an adult is approximately one year.
    • Invisalign Teen® – This treatment, designed for teenagers, is the same as the adult version, with two differences: Invisalign Teen comes with six extra replacement aligner trays; and Invisalign Teen trays include an indicator button that shows how long each aligner is being worn. The aligners are worn between 20 and 22 hours per day. The average treatment time for Invisalign Teen is one to one and a half years, but that can vary.
    • Invisalign Express – This treatment is designed for those who need only minor corrections to crowding or spacing problems. It works the same way as the traditional Invisalign treatment, but with less trays – 10 or less – and less time – approximately six months.

    Our Invisalign Procedure

After you have your initial exam, Dr. Latham will determine if you’re eligible for the Invisalign procedure. She will explain to you how the system works. If you have any questions, she will answer them. She will closely supervise your treatment to make sure you get the best possible results.

    Comprehensive exam and smile evaluation

Smiling with invisalignYou will receive a thorough evaluation and examination that includes a bite check, a TMJ (jaw joint) evaluation and a gum disease evaluation. Dr. Latham will discuss your smile goals with you.

    Planning your treatment

Dr. Latham will create study models of your smile and bite for use in treatment planning. We will take digital photos of your smile from different angles, take photos of the bite surfaces of your teeth and take impressions. All of this information is sent to the Invisalign lab, who works with Dr. Latham to create your custom digital treatment plan, as well as your first set of aligners.

    Previewing your final smile

When the plan is complete, you will watch a personalized video simulation of how your teeth will move during the course of your Invisalign treatment, including what your teeth will look like when your treatment has been completed.

Custom aligners based on your treatment plan

Invisalign alignerThe Invisalign lab will create your custom aligners based on your treatment plan. The aligner trays are made from smooth, BPA-free medical-grade plastic and are designed to fit snugly and comfortably over your teeth.

    Gradually straightening your teeth

Each aligner tray is worn for around two weeks, before you switch to the next tray in the series. Your complete series of aligners, worn in sequence, will move your teeth from their original position into their final position over the course of your treatment. You will have a checkup appointment with Dr. Latham every four to six weeks, so she will check your progress and make sure your teeth are moving properly.

Maintaining your straight smile with complimentary retainers

As part of your Invisalign treatment, we will give you four complimentary sets of retainers that you will use to keep your new, beautiful smile in optimum condition!

    Conditions Invisalign Can Correct

Invisalign teeth straightening can treat a variety of conditions. Dr. Latham will examine you and let you know what you can expect from your treatment. Some of the conditions that can be corrected with Invisalign include:

    • Overly crowded teethOver-crowded teeth – This occurs when your jawbone is too small for all of your teeth to fit properly.
    • Widely spaced teethGaps between teeth – This can be caused by missing teeth, or a jawbone that continues to grow.
    • OverbiteOverbites – Upper front teeth that protrude over the lower teeth can cause jaw joint problems, irritation and excess enamel wear.
    • UnderbiteUnderbites – Lower front teeth that protrude beyond the upper teeth can cause stress on the lower teeth and jaw joint issues.
    • Open-biteOpen bite – If some upper and lower teeth cannot make contact when your mouth is closed, you will have trouble chewing.
    • CrossbiteCrossbites – When the upper teeth bite on the inside of the lower teeth, you could experience bone loss, excess tooth wear and gum disease.
