If you are the parent of a baby, you know how much fun babies are. You may also have many questions about them, including about when they begin to cut their teeth. Here is some information to look for regarding when their first teeth come in.
What If My Baby Was Born With Teeth?
It may be hard to believe, but some babies are born with teeth. These teeth are called natal teeth. While they look like natural teeth, natal teeth are not intended to remain in their mouth. In fact, if their natal teeth are loose when they are born, the teeth will probably be pulled out to prevent the baby from breathing them in or choking on them. Natal teeth usually drop out on their own before the baby is a year old.
Is There an Order for When Baby Teeth Come In?
There is indeed an order to how baby teeth begin to erupt. The first teeth you will see appear are the lower incisors, those teeth that are in the very center of your mouth. Babies usually get those teeth between six months and one year of age. Next are the upper incisors, which most babies get between eight months and one year of age. Your baby will get their final two incisors on the top before they get the final two incisors on the bottom. The incisors are followed by the molars at about 18 months of age and then the cuspids or canines at around two years old. The second set of molars will erupt around the time you have a three-year-old toddler.
If the baby teeth are not coming in according to schedule, you do not need to worry. Every baby is different. However, if your baby does not have any teeth by the time they are a year old, you need to bring them in to see our dentist. Why not schedule an appointment for you and your baby today?
