Am I a Good Candidate for Invisalign®?
If your teeth or bite don’t line up properly, you just may be a good candidate for Invisalign, a comfortable and proven teeth straightening system. Instead of the metal wires and brackets that traditional braces rely on, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligner trays to gently move your teeth into the correct position. Invisalign provides straightening systems for adults and for teenagers with all of their permanent teeth and fully developed jaws. They also provide an Express version for people who only need minor corrections.
Sound good? The question is: are you a good candidate to receive Invisalign treatment? How do you find out?
If you have all of your adult teeth and your jaws are fully developed, chances are you can take advantage of Invisalign treatments. The best way to find out if Invisalign is right for you is to see your dentist for a complimentary Invisalign consultation. The consultation will give the dentist an opportunity to conduct an oral exam. She will find out about you and your concerns, your physical and oral health and the goals you have for your smile. With this information, the dentist will be able to determine if you are a good candidate to receive Invisalign treatment.
Once your eligibility has been established, you’ll learn about all of the Invisalign options and which one will best suit your needs and goals. Feel free to ask any questions. The more knowledge you have, the easier it will be to make an informed decision about your teeth-straightening options. You can visit our Invisalign page to learn more. Click here.
Regular adult Invisalign treatments usually take around 12 months to complete. Invisalign Teen® takes an average of one to one-and-a-half years and the Express version can take as little as six months. All of these times can vary, depending on your specific case.
There are many proven and great advantages to wearing the Invisalign aligners over wearing metal braces.
• One of the greatest things about Invisalign is that the aligner trays are removable! You can take them out to eat and to brush and floss. It is recommended that you wear the trays between 20 and 22 hours per day in order to get the full benefits.
• Invisalign Teen is the same as the adult version, with just two differences: the Teen trays have a built-in button that indicates just how long the aligner is being worn. The Teen version also comes with six extra trays – to cover accidents or misplaced trays.
• The aligner trays are smooth, so there’s nothing to rub against the inside of your mouth.
• You’ll have less trips to the dentist with Invisalign. Appointments are usually spaced every four to six weeks apart, so the dentist can check your progress.
